We back established British service businesses

Securing the future of the firms that keep Britain's buildings safe and running.

01

Who we are

Great businesses deserve great operations

Marchwood Industries invests in established service businesses across the United Kingdom. Our background is in operations: helping good firms run better and grow.

The focus is the side of the business the customer never sees: scheduling, certificates, quoting and invoicing. That coordination decides how much a good firm can deliver. Get it right and the same engineers get more done.

Winning new work comes next. Most firms this size are better at the job than at selling it.

Each business can also call on our partners: specialists in finance, technology, sales and compliance. That's expertise most firms this size would struggle to hire on their own.

02

Who we back

Firms that have done the same thing well for decades

Established, accredited businesses in fire safety, electrical compliance, air conditioning, plumbing and lifts. Owner managed, with a good name, loyal customers and engineers who know their trade.

Many have no succession plan, and their business is too small or too specialised to interest private equity. That's where Marchwood comes in: a buyer who knows the trade and wants to see what they've built carry on.

What we change

Strong engineering, backed by an office that keeps pace with it.

Certificates out the same day. Engineers on the tools. Customers answered. Then the time to go after new work.

Questions

Questions owners ask us

“It isn't for sale.”

That's fine, most good businesses aren't. We'd still like to meet the person who built it. If the day ever comes, you'll already know who we are.

“What would you pay?”

Honestly, we couldn't tell you yet. Any figure has to come from your real numbers, and we'd work it out with you.

“What happens to my staff?”

Your team is a big part of why we'd want the business in the first place. The plan is to grow, and that takes more people, not fewer.

“Would you keep the name?”

In most cases, yes. Your customers know it and trust it, and that's worth a lot.

“My son or daughter might take it on.”

Then that's great news, and we'd be pleased for you. If it doesn't work out, it's good to have another option that isn't a rushed sale.

“Who else would know?”

No one. Anything we send comes to you personally, and we won't speak to your staff or customers unless you ask us to.
